Big problem for my Osdate website
« on: June 29, 2015, 04:36:33 PM »
Hello,

I found a big problem for website with lot's of members (sorry for my english, i'm french).

If you connect on FTP, try to goes into the temp/cach/userimages or temp/userimages (where profpic are stored).

you cant list all files because FTP only list 5000 files (my website is currently around 30 000 members!).

I can't save all profile pic if I want to change hosting for example...

And I fear a little about some system file limit too...

Anybody can help me for working on the snaps_functions.php ?

I think about making 1 subdirectories before the userid directory (like

TEMP\userimages\00001\$USERID
for the 1000 first users (or 5000 first users because 5000 is the ftp folder limit)
etc ...

What do you think ?

Hi staan,

It depends on what FTP your talking about.

CuteFTP has unlimited so it's not a issue.
FileZila FTP also can have unlimited, so it's also not a issue.

Is this about the limits placed on your hosts ftp?
If it is then you need to speak to your host provider ;)

This is my website with the last FileZilla update.

I can only watch the 5 000 first file (4998 in fact, because there is '.' and '..' files)

It's a limit fixed by lot's of providers

Hi Staan,

Maybe you need to get a better host?

I can download all my photo's in one session using FileZilla and that way over what you are showing.

Hi,

I think you will find, most if not all FTP servers, will limit the output as standard.
You maybe able to change this if you have root access, to the server and can find the FTP config file.

If you have SSH access you should be able to see all the folders and files, without any issues.

Hi staan,

I don't know why I didn't think of this before but you can upload a zipped copy of the userimages and unzip them on the host.
Just make sure you extract them in the correct place!

This will stop the ftp limit :)
