Maintenance mode and admin/site login
« on: August 10, 2018, 02:47:35 AM »
Hi everyone, just a quick couple of questions.

1. Is there a maintenance mode feature, where you can place the site in a hold mode, so you can't login, register basically no interactivity, very handy when making changes to the site.

2. When I am in admin and make changes and want to check those changes on the site I have to log out of the admin otherwise it keeps going back to the admin page.

Thanks.

Hi Mermandams,

1: No there is no maintenance mode at this stage.

2: Most of use use two different explorers to see the changes on the front side while logged in the admin side

Hi Pharg,

Thanks for the reply, I am using Firefox and found if I separate the tabs into individual pages it allows me to have admin in one and user page in the other which will work for me.

Shame about the maintenance mode though as it is a very handy feature especially when trying to develop a site.

I hope you don't mind that I will be asking probably lots of questions as this script is new to me and will probably take a little while to get my head around all the features and options that it has available.

Also I see you are from NZ also, I hope my site does not step on your toes lol.

Cheers.

Hi Mermandams,

Be sure before asking all your questions, that they haven't already been answered by using the search  ;)

Hi again Pharg,

Will do, I have worked with a number of scripts in the past, Joomla, Zencart, Prestashop, etc etc but been out of the picture for a while and only just starting to get back into it.

I am having an issue configuring the email settings can't see why it is not sending emails from the site and nothing is showing up in my hosting logs, I have looked through the forums and found that a file error_log.txt can be created but has not been even after checking that error reporting is enabled in the init.php and by adding the code to the index.php file. Is there anywhere else I should be looking or something I am missing to get the errors logged?

Thanks.

Hi Mermandams,

There is a update for the email system and a extra added email system called mailgun, it has
all the updates to the settings.

The email send fine as it is now if left as Mail just add a email account, no need for password etc.

The update is here https://www.osdateforum.com/osdateevo-announcements-discussion/mailgun-email-smtp-addon-for-osdateevo-v1-3/msg10838/?topicseen#new

Please use the correct area for your questions, as this has nothing to do with Maintenance mode.

Your hosting might have error logging turn off.

Hi Pharg,

Thank you, familiarity is the key.
I did see something on Mailgun but thought it was just a mod, not a fix as such, so put it into my "something to look at later box"

I'll try to not bug you too much lol

Many thanks.

Hi Mermandams,

All those are updates and fixes and improvements, I just haven't gotten around to adding them to the main download yet sorry.

Looks like I better do that soon.
