osDate Evo Installation - Beginner

Step by Step walk through guide for a fresh install of osDate Evo.
Before we begin please make sure you have:
  • The latest version of osDate Evo.
  • Your Database details.

Note everywhere you see:
  • example.com - change to your own domain name.
  • example.com/osdate - refers to the folder you uploaded osDate into.

Step 1: Upload the files
Upload the osDate Evo files and folders and put them inside the public_html folder.

Step 2: Start the installer
To start the installer, you need to visit where you uploaded the files.

Go to example.com/ or if you installed into another folder then example.com/osdate/

Once the installer welcome page has loaded you need to click on 'Next'.

Step 3: Server Environment check
If you have all green ticks, you can continue and click on 'Next'.

If you do not, there could be an issue and we recommend you either post on osDate Forum or contact your hosting provider.

Step 4: File Permissions check
If you have all green ticks, you can continue and click on 'Next'.

If you do not, these need to be corrected before you continue. If you are unsure how to do this, you can post on osDate Forum for advice or contact your hosting provider.

Step 5: Database connection
You are required to enter the following details
  • Hostname (Normally “localhost”)
  • Port (Leave empty if you are using localhost otherwise contact your hosting provider)
  • Username (This is the database username)
  • Password (This is the database password)
Once you have entered the correct information, click on 'Next'.

Step 6: Database name
This is the database you will install into the osDate tables which is required.

Once you have entered the database name, click on 'Next'.

Step 7: Database access check
If you have all green ticks, you can continue and click on 'Next'.

If you do not, click on 'Back' twice and re-enter your database details, should you continue to have a problem, please contact your hosting provider.

Step 8: Database Prefix
This can be left as osdate, unless you have a reason to change it.
Click on 'Next'.

Step 9: Install osDate database tables (Part 1)
Click on 'Install Databases Tables'.

Step 10: Install osDate database tables (Part 2)
If everything has gone correctly you should have a green tick, which means the database has successfully been installed.

Click on 'Next'.

If you do not, click on 'Back' four times and try again.
If you continue to have a problem with this step please post on osDate Forum, with any errors.

Step 11: Create the Administrator Account (Part 1)
Enter the Username and Password as requested, these will be required to login to the admin area of osDate Evo.
Click on 'Next'.

Step 12: Create the Administrator Account (Part 2)
This is to confirm the username.
Click on 'Next'.

Step 13: Creating the Config files
This is where the Config files are created.
Click on 'Finished'.

Step 14: Finished
osDate Evo should now be installed, please read the part which refers to CHMOD permissions as this may apply to you.

Now please delete the 'installer' folder.
Then click on 'Finished'.

When you click on Finished you will be redirected to osDate front page.
