Title: Googlebot results in English
Post by: Hokjesdating on May 08, 2018, 12:31:13 PM
Googlebot crawls our website in English, but we removed everything that could show english language.

I have set this: https://www.osdateforum.com/osdateevo-tips-tricks/how-to-change-the-default-language-correctly-including-the-admin-area/msg10535/#msg10535

And removed all languages except our local language.

Hi Hokjesdating,

This is nothing to do with the script.

Google's default is always in English, you have to go to the Google Webmaster and submit your site to google and also add a hreflang tag line like below in the index.header.tpl, so Google and all other bots know what your default language is.

https://www.google.com/webmasters/ for submitting your site and sitemaps.

This one is for Portuguese:
Code: [Select]
<link rel="alternate" href="https://www.domain.com" hreflang="pt-pt" />

This one is for Netherlands:
Code: [Select]
<link rel="alternate" href="https://www.domain.com" hreflang="nl-nl" />
There is a hreflang creator here:

Thank you. This is for one language only.
What if someone uses a multilanguage site where the user can choose between languages?

Hi Koklesdating,

Then you put in multi hreflang tags for all countries.

In webmaster-tools, the result is still in English.
There is a cookie-language set:
Code: [Select]
Set-Cookie: opt_lang=english; expires=Thu, 09-May-2019 09:57:36 GMT; Max-Age=31536000

Hi Hokjesdating,

Google doesn't change the results straight away, it can take a few weeks or more before you see the results change.

Try also clearing the temp/templates_c/ folder.
You need to search google for setting meta tags to improve the Crawl methods for the bots etc

These are not part of the script, they are added later by the owner.
