Here's what I got.
I use a Gmail email address, for version 2.19 it works fine, but not for the new version.
Has anybody an idea what might be the problem?

Hi Olaf Klausen,

Why don't you use a email from the domain it's on?

It would be more trusted.

But google sees it differently.
Many mails don't reach the user because google doesn't regard them as trustworthy.
Especially the activation mails disappear nowhere.
Since I use the email address of gmail, everything has arrived.

Hi Olaf,

Don't believe everything you read about google and google own Gmail.
Google think they are the God to the internet and seem to think we must do all they say.

Facebook proved that same point as they told google where to go.

I have had sites running with there own domains emails without any problems for years.

Hi Pharg,

I tested it with different email providers and there I got no mails.
Also the mails came back that could not be delivered.

Hi olaf,

Gmail has changed things in the website setup proccess.

Do a google search and you will find the problem is in your gmail account settings.

How do I link my Gmail account to my website?

    Log into your Gmail account.
Click the gear icon in the upper right corner of the page and select Settings.
Click the Accounts tab and locate the Check mail from other accounts (using POP3) section.
Click Add a POP3 mail account you own.
Enter the full email address of the account from which you'd like mail fetched.

Hi olaf,

It sounds like your not setting it up correctly.

It should be set as sendmail even when using other emails.

All settings are absolutely correct.
Somehow I can't get it to work in the new version.

It should be set as sendmail even when using other emails.

Even that I have already tried, and that didn't work out.

Hi Olaf,

I had a similar problem with gmail in my windows live email, Google have updated the account settings and you
have to go into the gmail account and enable pop mail settings or it will always fail.

Pop emails are now set to be blocked by gmail default, unless you set it up in their settings.

Hi Olaf,

I will also look to see if I can work it out, more than likely because google changed permissions and the ports.
