« on: April 30, 2014, 12:15:34 AM »
Here is the fix for the dropdown menu not working correctly in the default responsive templates 2 column and 3 column.

In the mobile.css file

find:
Code: [Select]
.headerfooter, .headerfooter:hover {
color: #FFFFFF;
font-size: 9px;
font-weight: bold;
height: 23px;
background: -webkit-gradient(linear, 0% 0%, 0% 100%, from(#1F49A3), to(#4278D3));
background: -webkit-linear-gradient(top, #1F49A3, #4278D3);
background: -moz-linear-gradient(top, #1F49A3, #4278D3);
background: -ms-linear-gradient(top, #1F49A3, #4278D3);
background: -o-linear-gradient(top, #1F49A3, #4278D3);
border-radius: 5px;

replace with:
Code: [Select]
.headerfooter, .headerfooter:hover {
color: #FFFFFF;
font-size: 9px;
font-weight: bold;
height: 23px;
background: -webkit-gradient(linear, 0% 0%, 0% 100%, from(#1F49A3), to(#4278D3));
background: -webkit-linear-gradient(top, #1F49A3, #4278D3);
background: -moz-linear-gradient(top, #1F49A3, #4278D3);
background: -ms-linear-gradient(top, #1F49A3, #4278D3);
background: -o-linear-gradient(top, #1F49A3, #4278D3);
border-radius: 5px;
}

In the mobile.css file
add:
Code: [Select]
.user_menu {
display: inherit;
}

In the desktop.css file
add
Code: [Select]
.user_menu {
display: none;
}

In the index.tpl file
find:
Code: [Select]
<div class="leftcolumn">
{include file="leftcolumn.tpl"}
</div>

add after:
Code: [Select]
<div class="user_menu">
{include file="user_menu.tpl"}
</div>

In the template add the attached user_menu.tpl file

Make sure in the admin panel in user controls you have the admin and member menus set to top.

Hi scvoyager,

These changes cause errors to both templates default and default 3 column both won't load correctly,  or the menu crashes in the mobile side.
I have attached a photo of the mobile side.

Upload the new user menu file. Was getting a conflict with the leftcolumn so I will use this file for future template design.

Hi scvoyager,

It fixed the desktop error and most of the mobile error however you need to apply a small change.
In the user_menu.tpl
Code: [Select]
/*FOR FUTURE USE*/
Change it to:
Code: [Select]
{*FOR FUTURE USE*}
This hides the /*FOR FUTURE USE*/  from showing in the mobile template as it should be.

It has been removed. I had it in their to be visible so I could see the placement of it and just forgot to remove it from the file. "I'M BAD"

Hi scvoyager,

lol all good, by the way I have found another small bug after fixing the mobile menu, now the Desktop log in bar is all pulling to the right side, on a good note, I found the fix for it and tested all the menus while logged in and they are all good still.

In the index.tpl find line 19 being
Code: [Select]
<td class="top_blue"></td>
Remove the line and save it. Done all fixed.
This makes the log in center and the welcome message when logged in center also.

Thanks scvoyager, got the pm

I still might look at making a more mobile friendly menu yet if I find the time.

Do you have any links to sites that have a menu type you are thinking about? I don't care to add it to the responsive default templates but we may want to start a topic on responsive tips and tricks to share and get ideas on things like this.
