Hi ukdenny,

The text comes from the special_offer.tpl but the text is in the lang_main.php file.

Instructions are here: https://www.osdateforum.com/configuration-installation-4/change-welcome-text-on-the-homepage-and-header-picture/msg1876/#msg1876

I changed the text okay some days ago. Today when I tried it would not load so I deleted the language file with the intention of reloading it.
It wouldn't work so I checked this forum and followed the instructions on how to load again but all I get is a white screen.

Hi ukdenny,

The white screen means you have a syntax error in the  lang_main.php file either
Quote
'Your Text';
one of them are missing or you have to many of them like
Quote
'Your Text';;
or
Quote
'Your Text;
missing the '.

Check that all the Welcome message has the code like this Example:
Code: [Select]
$lang['offer_text'] = 'See why SITENAME is the fastest growing relationship site on the web. Create your SITENAME profile to begin the exciting journey towards finding your match.';

If you used a ' in the text message they must be like this Example: can't must be can\'t

Hope this helps or post it and I can look at it.

I think I must have messed up somewhere because I couldn't find any of those syntax errors.
I have now done a clean install, I didn't have any live profiles so nothing lost.

Thank you, I will. The site is coming along nicely, I have added a 'work around' with forum and chat rooms by adding a link in the services at footer. They do have to register and login but it's members only and admin clears them for membership.

Hi Ukdenny,

You could have added the forum and chat rooms to the main menu, works pretty much the same way.
