« on: March 06, 2015, 02:08:23 PM »
Hello Phil,

Hope all is well with you,

In your experience with osDate on shared hosting what number of members would be maximum before alternative hosting would need to be looked at?

It can depend on your hosting provider, as most have their own limits for CPU and Memory.
Some use CloudLinux which is a great, however osDate can be heavy on the request per person loading you website.

A year or so ago, when my hosting provider started using CloudLinux, I work it out that osDate uses 6 process per person looking at your site on the front page.
Most hosting providers using it set the process between 10 and 20. Each process dies off after it been completed.

It depends what happens with you get the max process for the hosting provider, as to what happens, I believe some will give an error, others will throttle your account till it goes within limits.

For those hosting providers who don't use CloudLinux, it should work better as they will allow some much for so long per process.

So I don't believe there is a set people view, at anyone time.

If you are referring to how many members can signup, this can depends on the database size, as some providers have limits of around 1GB (1000MB or 1024MB) per database, which should hold quiet a lot.
Again this depends if you have pictures stored in the database, as it all takes up space.
