Hi Burton,

This will make the News stories ready big but here it is.

In the new_lines.tpl

Code: [Select]
<div style="padding-top:2px; padding-left: 6px; padding-bottom:2px; padding-right:4px;">
{foreach item=row from=$news_data}
<span class="newshead">{$row.header|stripslashes}</span><br/>
<span class="newsdate">{$row.date}</span><br/><br />
<span class="newstext">{$row.text|stripslashes}</span>
{if $config.enable_mod_rewrite == 'Y'}
<a href='news{$row.newsid}.htm' >{lang mkey='more'}</a>
{else}
<a href='index.php?page=shownews&amp;newsid={$row.newsid}' >{lang mkey='more'}</a>
{/if}
<br/><br />
{/foreach}
<center>
{if $config.enable_mod_rewrite == 'Y'}
<a href='allnews.html' >{lang mkey='all_news'}</a>
{else}
<a href='index.php?page=allnews'>{lang mkey='all_news'}</a>
{/if}
</center>
</div>

Change to
Code: [Select]
<div style="padding-top:2px; padding-left: 6px; padding-bottom:2px; padding-right:4px;">
{foreach item=row from=$news_data}
<span class="newshead">{$row.header|stripslashes}</span><br/>
<span class="newsdate">{$row.date}</span><br/><br />
<span class="newstext">{$row.text|stripslashes}</span>
<br /><br />
{/foreach}
<center>
{if $config.enable_mod_rewrite == 'Y'}
<a href='allnews.html' >{lang mkey='all_news'}</a>
{else}
<a href='index.php?page=allnews'>{lang mkey='all_news'}</a>
{/if}
</center>
</div>

And that's it.
Regards,
Pharg ( Phill )

Hi Burton,

Try uploading the changed new_lines.tpl into your customized template name.

Hi Burton,

You also need to change the amout of words to show in the admin/ site global settings.

There are two you need to change.

Number of news items to display:   1
Number of words to display in short news: 150 or what your happy with.

You will see then see why they have it set to 20 on the left panel by adding more.

Hi Burton,

Your looking and refreshing the all news page aren't you??

For the all news you need to edit the allnews.tpl

Code: [Select]
{strip}
<div style="vertical-align:top; padding-bottom: 4px; text-align:left;" >
{assign var="page_hdr01_text" value="{lang mkey='news'}"}
{assign var="page_title" value="{lang mkey='news'}"}
{include file="page_hdr01.tpl"}
<div class="module_detail_inside">
<form action="index.php" method="get">
<input name="page" value="allnews" type="hidden" />
<div style="padding: 6px; ">
{lang mkey='results_per_page'}:&nbsp;
<select name="results_per_page">
{html_options options=$lang.search_results_per_page selected=$psize}
</select>&nbsp;
<input type="submit" class="formbutton" value="{lang mkey='show'}"  />
</div>
</form>

{foreach item=row from=$data}
<div style="padding-top: 4px; padding-left:6px; padding-top:6px; padding-bottom: 4px;">
<span class="newshead">{$row.header|stripslashes}</span><br/>
<span class="newsdate">{$row.date|date_format:$lang.DATE_FORMAT}</span><br/>
<span class="newstext">{$row.text|stripslashes}</span>
{if $config.enable_mod_rewrite == 'Y'}
<a href='news{$row.newsid}.htm' >{lang mkey='more'}</a>
{else}
<a href='index.php?page=shownews&amp;newsid={$row.newsid}' >{lang mkey='more'}</a>
{/if}
</div>
{/foreach}
{if $pages neq ""}
<div align="center"  style="padding-top:10px;" >
{if $prev != "" }
<a href="index.php?page=allnews&amp;pageno={$prev}" >&lt;-- {lang mkey='previous'}</a>&nbsp;&nbsp;
{/if}
{if $cpage != "" && $pages != "" }
{lang mkey='pageno'} {$cpage} {lang mkey='of'} {$pages}
{/if}
{if $next != "" }
&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="index.php?page=allnews&amp;pageno={$next}">{lang mkey='next'} --&gt;</a>
{/if}
</div>
{/if}
</div>
</div>
{/strip}

Change to:

Code: [Select]
{strip}
<div style="vertical-align:top; padding-bottom: 4px; text-align:left;" >
{assign var="page_hdr01_text" value="{lang mkey='news'}"}
{assign var="page_title" value="{lang mkey='news'}"}
{include file="page_hdr01.tpl"}
<div class="module_detail_inside">
<form action="index.php" method="get">
<input name="page" value="allnews" type="hidden" />
<div style="padding: 6px; ">
{lang mkey='results_per_page'}:&nbsp;
<select name="results_per_page">
{html_options options=$lang.search_results_per_page selected=$psize}
</select>&nbsp;
<input type="submit" class="formbutton" value="{lang mkey='show'}"  />
</div>
</form>

{foreach item=row from=$data}
<div style="padding-top: 4px; padding-left:6px; padding-top:6px; padding-bottom: 4px;">
<span class="newshead">{$row.header|stripslashes}</span><br/>
<span class="newsdate">{$row.date|date_format:$lang.DATE_FORMAT}</span><br/>
<span class="newstext">{$row.text|stripslashes}</span>

</div>
{/foreach}
{if $pages neq ""}
<div align="center"  style="padding-top:10px;" >
{if $prev != "" }
<a href="index.php?page=allnews&amp;pageno={$prev}" >&lt;-- {lang mkey='previous'}</a>&nbsp;&nbsp;
{/if}
{if $cpage != "" && $pages != "" }
{lang mkey='pageno'} {$cpage} {lang mkey='of'} {$pages}
{/if}
{if $next != "" }
&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="index.php?page=allnews&amp;pageno={$next}">{lang mkey='next'} --&gt;</a>
{/if}
</div>
{/if}
</div>
</div>
{/strip}

These changes are not bugs!! It's called customized work I am doing.

Basic ways to find where the what tpl pages needs changing is to view the php page your looking at,
for example, news.php inside you will find at the bottom it will have a  new_lines.tpl and if it has a all new page
this is normally on inside the index.php, view it and search for news, you find it has a allnews.tpl etc.

This is how you trace back to what changes you need to do. Cheers
