advanced search sections not working properly
« on: January 03, 2015, 03:11:41 AM »
Hi,

when there are sections that are empty because there are no questions for that section enabled in Admin or not set for advanced search the links to these sections still show in the advanced search option. How can I change this. In editquestions.php it is working fine. When it is empty that link is not shown.

Thanks.
Kind regards,

Hi  oppeneer,

I have never noticed that before until you pointed it out.

I am looking for a way to fix this, I am sure one of out members reading this might already know why
a section that is disabled in Section Management, still shows in the Advanced Search area.

If someone knows the fix for this please help out :)

Hi oppeneer,

The problem seems to be coming from here in advsearch.tpl.
Code: [Select]
<table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1" >
<tr >
{* Create menu from sections table *}
{assign var="cn" value=1}
{foreach key=key item=item from=$sections}
<td align="center" class='edituserlink' height="23">
{if $key != $sectionid}
<a href="#" onclick="javascript: document.{$frmname}.sectionid.value={$key}; document.{$frmname}.submit();" class='edituserlink'>
{/if}
{$item}
{if $key != $sectionid}
</a>
{/if}
</td>
{assign var="cn" value=$cn+1}
{if $cn == 6}
</tr>
<tr>
{assign var="cn" value=1}
{/if}
{/foreach}
</tr>
</table>

I have checked the advsearch.php and the SQL has the ( where enabled ) in it so it should be working.
Will keep trying and if you or anyone else gets this working let us know.

Pharg ( Phill )

Do either of you have a snapshot of this since I can't duplicate the problem.

Hi scvoyager ,

Yes I do, here is mine from the admin area, the second pic with the green arrows should be visible and the ones marked with red arrows shouldn't be visible at all as the are not enable as seen in other pic.

Now I see what you guys are talking about.

This is how it is supposed to work. If you have a category installed be it active or inactive it will show in the admin panel and the inactive ones will not show on the frontend.

If you don't want it to show in the admin panel then delete it instead of just turning it off.

A nice feature would be to have a red or green X next to the category name to let an admin no if it is active or inactive.

Hi scvoyager,

Thanks for that, I already knew to delete it, I was trying to find another way around that for oppeneer.

I must admit I haven't even looked at the front end yet, lol I suppose I should have opps.   :-\

Better check it's not the same as the admin side I suppose

Hi scvoyager,

I just checked the front end and it's the same as the admin side showing them all :(

Yes I agree a having a red or green X in the area would be great also.
