Hi Phil and CBG,

I woke to find my site had,

500 Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

so I contacted my Server/Host, technical support contacted me after a few hours saying they tried to fix, yet can not.

.............
 However, there is no issues with the PHP files access in your account. I have tested by uploading one test file at http://www.yourwebsite.com/test.php and it is loading fine. So, please upload the website files from your local backup and check whether you are able to access the website fine.
...............

Phil or CBG do you have any suggestions on where I should look to fix this?

Hi Burton,

Please check the .htaccess and the config.php to see if they are all ok, Make sure no files have gone missing.
If in doubt about the .htaccess rename it to .htaccess.bak to see if the site loads now.

It could be anything, a file might have corrupted when the host made some changes to their server.
If nothing seems out of place try restoring it from your backup file.

Hi Phil,

Thank you for your help,

I renamed .htaccess to .htaccess.bak   no change

When you say config.php you mean the config.ini.php? I open up config.inc.php I see this:

Code: [Select]
define('C_VERSION', '2.6.5');

/*
-----------
DB Settings
-----------
*/

define( 'DB_USER', '' );
define( 'DB_NAME', '' );
define( 'DB_HOST', 'localhost' );
define( 'DB_PASS', '' );
define( 'DB_TYPE', 'mysql' );
define( 'DB_PREFIX', 'osdate' );

so somehow my host has managed to copy over blank files....or something.......do not know!! ??

I placed the database info into the config.inc.php file yet no change.

What other data needs to be in the config.ini.php file?

Hi Burton,

No, check the temp/myconfigs/config.php file. The config.ini.php does nothing, it's the left from the old system.
PM me your ftp details so I can have a look?

I wanted to update this to let you know what happened.

The problem was found to be in the database, as with a new install, and a new database all was working correctly again.

Thank you Phil (Pharg) for all your email support.
