Web Hosting Problems

This doesn't really relate to osDate directly, other than obviously everybody needs to host a site somewhere in order to run osDate.

My osDate is hosted on Securepaynet.net, which I believe is a GoDaddy holding. The pricing is reasonable but the admin panel is pretty much garbage.

Having just purchased some advertising on Facebook for my site, http://www.whitepersonals.net/ , I then logged in to my hosting admin panel in order to tweak some of the files. I was trying to locate the init.php file in order to modify it. I scrolled down and clicked on the whitepersonals folder, which contains the osDate software for the site. Instead of opening the folder, the entire page jumped to the top. I attempted to open the folder a couple more times, and then - it just vanished.

This happened once before, and after a two=hour phone call to their support center, someone finally helped locate the missing folder: it had somehow jumped into another folder, with the natural consequence that the site went down.

Well, it just happened again, it's too late in the day to call them, my site will be offline all night while Facebook is supposed to be reviewing it prior to approving my ad campaign, and I have to get up at 2:30 AM to go to work soon. So I just sent them an e-mail and will follow through with the phone call tomorrow after work.

I had some difficulty articulating the problems in my e-mail to Securepaynet.net support, so I made this video and sent it to them as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJJtVHbDSdE

Why I share this tale with you - what hosting services do you recommend which have functional admin panels? I know good ones exist; I've used some in the past. CPanel never gave me grief. Even if Securepaynet.net support helps fix my site this time, there's just no working with that crazy admin panel. If they can't fix it, I am definitely moving to a new host.

Hi Wolfman14,

Sorry you had this problem, I never use the hosting editors ever to edit the files.
Best to use a editor that's built into the ftp or add notepad ++ to use with FileZilla.

Just upload these two files I have done for you.

This was posted a month ago but just wanted to add, watch out for your hosts inode limit! Something you don't really consider since you get duped by the unlimited disk space deal most hosts offer..that is until your site starts growing.
