osDate Future update - Post your Bugs, Errors and issues
« on: January 15, 2015, 11:59:41 AM »
Hi,

So as you may know, in 2014 I released osDate 2.6.5, which fixed a few issues, but not everything.
If you are aware of any issues, bugs or errors, please post them here.

What are your views on Smarty should we stay with Smarty 2 or go Smarty 3.
To note Smarty 3, may break current templates, due to the changes.

Please do NOT post feature requests, the next version will ONLY be a bug fix update.
Regards,
CBG (Garry)

Hi CBG,

Here are a few problems that are in osDate 2.6.5

The plugins are not creating the plugin menu in any of the menu templates, being the sidedropdownpanelmenu.tpl, dropdownpanelmenu.tpl and the panelmenu_options.tpl

If you edit the tpl's to show the plugins link, they still don't create in the plugin sublinks like they do in osdate 2.6

Some of the plugins that don't work correctly anymore, the main one talked about is the Auto Generated Profiles plugin.

I have tested the Auto Generated Profiles on mine and it creates the members but has no photo's in the profiles, then I
found the photo's where trying to install but they all go into the usersimages folder but they aren't in there own sub folders to the profile it should be associated to.

Some members where getting no age in the Auto Generated Profiles plugin others no photo's

The other plugin not working is the PayPal plugin

Below are two pics, one with plugins not working in menu
The Second pic is just what it should be doing.

Thanks guys.
I also know videos uploaded don't always play.

I think the first thing to do is get the install script working with new versions of PHP.
One of my hosts I use said they adding PHP 5.6 by the end of Feb 2015, which should help.

I am pretty sure osDate 2.6.5 once installed works on PHP 5.5, just need to test it.

I still don't understand why the PHP guys make so many changes and php versions and leave the developers (and users!) behind with non compatible software..

Hi CBG,

I managed to get that sorted and have modded it, still getting some bugs out but works fine on this server.

The original files work well on some hosts but not on all, something to do with permissions I think.

Will release when it's bug free.

Hi Vink,

I am with you one this one, but the reason they are updating it and forgetting about us is all about the mobile and tablets being compatible
and working on loading faster.

I also use very popular script not a dating one and the Dev team there don't worry about if it works in the latest PHP as they say not many hosts run the latest PHP versions that are bug free.
Latest news on PHP is that they skipping PHP 6, as it's been scrapped and will release PHP 7 instead.

Without us having enough issues Google also put a spanner in the works like they always do, they have started testing our sites to see if they are fully mobile compatible, the time it takes to  in load and if it's not good, your going to get notices how to fix and a warning.

I found a bug in deleting a user.
When a admin delete an user the function deleteUser($userId) is called in includes/internal/Functions.php

on line 721
Code: [Select]
$osDB->query('delete from ! where userid = ? or ref_userid = ?', array(BUDDY_BAN_TABLE, $userId, $userId) );
This is no good because the BUDDY_BAN_TABLE has no userid and ref_userid
It must be:
Code: [Select]
$osDB->query('delete from ! where username = ? or ref_username = ?', array(BUDDY_BAN_TABLE, $username, $username) );

Hi Guys, have been gone for awhile in a very remote area and trying to catch up on things since I was living with download speeds of 1.04mbs and upload speeds of 0.02mbs. Yes those are the real speed test numbers.

Do you think that it might be good to have a locked topic so when small fixes are found and posted those fixes could be copied to locked area so everyone can keep track of what is fixes have been found and will be added to the next version?

Hi,

I have some more feedback on this post.

I think each bug should have it own post, so no multi bug reporting in one post.
The reason being, I think it can someones confuse the issue, with members are talking about multiple bugs in a post.

I also like scvoyager for small bugs, where a release is not needed

The security side of osDate has fallen behind, in the way it stores password as MD5.
In the past I setup password salting, so it adds a bit to the password then hash it, along with blowfish encryption.

This does cause an issue, if the admin forget their password, as they would not be able to login to phpMyAdmin and set a new one.
But I did come up with a password reset script for the admin, that they could upload, when needed.

Also I am starting to looki into Two-Factor login

Hi CBG,

I also think each bug should have it own post, however some members just keep posting in the same post even when asked to stop posting multi issues in the same post.

This would be a great change to osDate.

I think the admin if he/she forgot the password is a major problem, there is now way to request a new one in the admin unlike other scripts I have and seen.

Look forward in seeing the changes.
